Featuring vivid and vibrant interiors and a semi-industrial theme, KrisLab Studio was conceived to help develop a more creative and agile mindset in the company by providing a work environment that stimulates design thinking, promotes innovation and delivers youthful energy to a long-established company.

Krislab Studio seeks to break down the traditional vertical hierarchy in favour of a more flexible network of teams to create an agile organisation that is able to deliver faster results. To achieve this goal, they set a theme ‘ABLE” acronym for Achieve, Belong, Lean and Enjoy – a process that requires maximum flexibility and necessitates for different function use of the space.

The area is both an office and collaboration area, which houses a number of foldable tables and that they can be configured in any number of groups that suits their discussion. The same space allows all the loose furniture to be tucked in a storeroom and opens up a large event room for 100-person seating with 2 large projector screens. This same space was also planned for setting up booths to showcase their latest innovation and internal events.

Aesthetically, KrisLab Studio space has a youthful and semi-industrial with exposed ceiling details and a polished concrete floor are softened with colourful chairs and some featured colourful hexagonal design.

3D Office  Walk throughs

When it comes to office design, good planning is essential. A good office design improves productivity and contributes to the well-being of your employees. It also reflect your company culture, branding and how you like to work, both internally and with your customers.

Believe it or not, the average adult spends over 50% of their daytime hours in an office. It’s the central part of our day and often the place we spend the most time in. This is why, in addition to functioning well, we want an office design that creates a pleasant and inviting place to spend time in.

With some thoughtful planning, you can achieve both… but where do you start?

Miracles design offers strategic space planning that suits both functionally and aesthetically. We offer visual walkthrough that allows our client to "walk around" and get a feel for their new workspace before they move in. This allows the client to get a sense of the look (and feel), and gives the opportunity to move/swop products, change colours, walls, carpets and more. 3D walk through are the next steps up in visualising office designs, accompanied with office plans. It gives the clients a true understanding of their new space.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES LIMITED, TECHSQ

Miracles Design Consultants was tasked to design a stimulating work environment for the flag carrier airline of Singapore, Singapore Airlines Limited.
Ditching the typical, uninspiring office cubicles for an open plan workspace is implemented to maximise the flexibility use of the space at TECHSQ, SIA Training Centre. The design space is to promote openness and transparency which allow the employees to meet each other and endorse collaborative working.
Given Singapore Airlines’ role as an award-winning airline corporation, we sought to showcase a contemporary, vibrant, futuristic and agile environment, while simultaneously preserving a clear and clean aesthetic that contribute to this message. The premise is to design an open space that can promote team integration and maintain versatile common areas, wherein different types of activities can be carried out. An open floor plan is chosen, with the operational area on the perimeter of the building in order to take advantage of natural light and, which enable the common services strategically distributed around the building.
The project incorporates dynamic spaces such as conference rooms with different capabilities, quiet rooms for virtual calls or meetings, private huddle rooms, project rooms, fully equipped hot desks for casual meetings, and open plan workstations. As for recreational areas, open space is designed which comprises a “futuristic work café” and with an operable wall where this space can be expanded to host “Town Halls.”
Brand image is expressed through the use of colour in different spaces and in elements that feature simple lines. Every single one of these details represents the implementation of materials that feel futuristic, fresh and innovative, which infuses quality to space. This includes a spiral staircase linking the two levels and undulating lines on the floors to define open spaces and working collaboration spaces.

INdoor  air  quality

The likelihood of immediate reactions to indoor air pollutants depends on several factors including age and preexisting medical conditions. In some cases, whether a person reacts to a pollutant depends on individual sensitivity, which varies tremendously from person to person. We propose for an IAQ test for a client and that helps to ensure and manage the whole project smoothly.

Result:
1) PM2.5 levels at all the indoor locations tested were within the SS554:2016 recommended threshold limit of <37.5μg/m³.
2) TVOC levels at all the indoor locations tested were within the SS554:2016 recommended threshold limit of <1000ppb.
3)Formaldehyde levels at all the indoor locations tested were within the SS554:2016 recommended threshold limit of <0.08ppm. Varnishes and glues used and applied on composite furniture release formaldehyde gas (off-gas) into the air. When formaldehyde is present in the air at levels exceeding 0.08ppm, some individuals may experience health effects such as watery eyes, burning sensations of the eyes, nose and throat, coughing, wheezing, nausea, and skin irritation.

Inter - floor  office staircase

To connect the space, between Level 1 and Level 2, the client wants a "small staircase" to connect. Hence we include a design with a stylistic edge, a large custom steel spiral staircase was installed. The solid metal steps, and perforated metal railings echo the gritty yet sophisticated vibe of the space. The end result is, industrial and corporat-tie, giving the client an identity of their own.

We were appointed to design and build the Flight Operations Control Centre for Singapore Airlines Limited @ T3. The main purpose is to allow the senior pilots and pilots in training to gather at the “lobby” area before proceeding together to the respective briefing room. CCCC  PROJECT @ T3

Miracles Design was tasked with creating a young, colourful, vibrant work space for Singapore Airlines Limited, Cabin Crew Control Centre @ T3, Changi Airport.

The space features 2 different set of lounges, operable wall meeting rooms for town hall sessions, coffee bar, soft seating and host of varied working spaces – ranging from a large collaboration table to private smaller meeting room. Visitors have a sense of arrival with a modern bright reception feature through to the rest of the lounge and meeting area.

The lounge feels distinctly different from the rest of the office space and provides an escape to a more hospitable environment. The brief was to create the business lounge with young and vibrant feel but retain a level of formality to suit the nature of the business.

A blend of residential and corporate styles runs throughout the space. The coffee bar and island resemble a kitchen in a modern home interior, these elements are pivotal in creating the ‘home feel’. A colourful palette was used in the more social spaces, whilst darker tones were assigned to the working environments and meeting rooms to create a more intimate atmosphere. Modern more minimalist spaces are also layered with traditional elements to varying degrees.

https://workdesign.com/2019/05/good-office-design-includes-soundproofing-for-productivity/

Excerpt from the article;

Sound Reduction Techniques:
  • Isolated Soundproof Spaces: You don’t have to soundproof the entire office. Strategically find spaces to provide acoustical privacy for phone calls and meetings. Not every office has an ideal outside to step into to take phone calls and providing this personal space is important for the caller and their co-workers. Products like these booths are perfect for open offices. This provides a quiet space when it’s needed or, lends itself to lively debate without distracting those working directly outside
Sound Absorption Techniques:
  • Wall & Ceiling Panels: Wall and ceiling panels help with sound absorption. Whatever outside noise comes through your walls, windows, and doors and whatever noise is generated inside your office will be mitigated by these. There are so many great options these days that won’t sacrifice the aesthetic of the space.
  • Bring in Plants: From a living wall to a few hanging ferns, plants will help absorb noise while adding to the design. Plus, plants clean the air, are shown to help with office stress, and lead to more productivity. “The presence of green leafy plants has also been linked to enhanced creative thinking,” says Sally Augustin Ph.D. in Psychology Today.
  • White Noise: Sound masking brings calming or common and continuous noise to the background so distracting noises, like conversations, fade into it. Many employees working in open offices will download apps with noises like “Unreal Ocean” or “Spring Walk” to drown out the voices of their co-workers. Adding white noise machines to shared spaces will relieve the burden from individuals and encourage collaboration rather than isolating headphone usage.

YoungeR  AND  MODERN  DESIGN

17/5/2019

CONTENT.MYCAREERSFUTURE.SG/COOL-WORKPLACES-SPORE-SCREAM-OFFICEGOALS/

The companies in this article reflect the younger and more modern design that caters for the individual and collective needs of its people, which better reflects the profile of its workforce.

Some of our clients are “concerned about the focus on fun” and that work isn’t supposed to be exactly "fun" because it is work.” However, they are open to the idea of workplace designs that people can work, rest and play in. Often we suggested, pool tables, drinks fridges and games consoles are some good examples of making an office "fun", which will rally in support when they can now think "I know where I’d rather spend my lunch hour".

The company will still appear to exhibit the ‘voice of business’ which is still thoughtful and considered and rightly so. New workplace design can change your company culture or further supports the reflection of your existing culture.

Does your workplace design reflect your company culture? If it doesn’t, talk to us and let us know about the changes you want to make to your workplace.
